Chinese SKS Slings

An early Chinese SKS sling.  These were issued before the type with the leather tab ends

Another view, from Marcus A. von Weigert...

The above sling is in fact a later Chinese SKS sling, although it has the color of the early slings, which were a khaki or grayish green.  The early slings were also khaki or grayish-green, but had the leather strap at each end, like the sling below.  Later, a version of the same sling but with the dual wire coils on the ends in place of the straps, like the sling shown has, was used in tropical areas where the leather tended to rot.  The sling shown is the third type, which did away with one end ring, and had one of the wire coils attach directly to the buckle (which is unique to this style sling) instead. It also has a vinyl or plastic imitation leather sling loop instead of a leather one, as these also won't rot like leather will.  This third style of sling is also much cheaper and quicker to manufacture.

I had originally listed this sling as a Chinese AK-47 sling.  Marcus A. von Weigert provided the following correction:

This is a Chinese SKS sling.  Although it is an early style sling, it is a more recent production one, as evidenced by the bright green color and the green painted buckle and end rings that the leather pieces attach to.  The Western writing and numbers are correct, usually there will be Chinese writing with them also.  The true Chinese AK sling is almost identical, but it only has one end ring with leather strap and the buckle is noticably larger.  While it is quite possible that these slings were also used by China with AK series rifles, it is originally an SKS sling.
