Austrian Made K98 Sling

Pictures and information courtesy of Ken Meek, Woolaroc Museum, Bartlesville, OK
K98 sling, 47" long, made of brown leather, dyed black on one side, is diamond embossed on the black side.
|
The sling is made as the Nazi era ones, but is unmarked except
for the stamping :
"EIGENTUM der WIEN SICHERHEITSWACHE"
Running this through on-line translator www.babblefish.com
gave this translation:
"Property of the Vienna Securities Awake"
(I broke sicherheitswache into sicherheits & wache)
So my best guess would be post-WWII Austrian made for the Austrian security forces / police. If anyone out there knows for sure, please drop me an e-mail.
