This is a Japanese Type 99, 7.7 mm rifle. It was used by Japan in WWII. It is a very interesting rifle in that it was equiped with anti-aircraft sights and a monopod. This particular rifle has an original sling as well. The slings for these rifles are not seen often, and this is a nice example of what to look for.

This is an original WW2 Japanese Type 38 Rifle sling made of leather. The sling is unit marked with white kanji characters and numbers painted on the backside. It has all fittings and its leather keeper. The buckle is the correct type being of brass construction and NOT sewn onto the sling.

Very rare and original Japanese WW II leather sling used on the early Type 99 Arisaka rifles and the Type 2 take-down paratrooper rifle. Sling is the correct wide pattern as seen on the early Type 99's, and is fitted with an original quick-detach snap hook device on one end. This allowed for rapid removal of the sling, and was especially useful on the paratrooper models as those guns actually seperated into two pieces. See page 192 in Honeycutts's "Military Rifles of Japan" for description of this QD feature.

This is an original WW2 Japanese Type 99 Rifle sling made of rubberized canvas material. The sling is unit marked with white Kanji characters and numbers painted on the backside. It has all fittings and its leather keeper. The buckle is the correct type being of metal construction and NOT sewn onto the sling like with Swedish Mauser slings that are often advertised as being Japanese.

UNISSUED RUBBERIZED CANVAS SLING

This is apparently an unissued T-99 sling. It does not appear to ever have been on a rifle or to have been unrolled. The sling is 1 3/8" wide and is the four layer type. The markings show it to be a Nagoya dated Showa 17.11. Nov. 1942.

An interesting woven sling on a "Last Ditch" Japanese Type 99 rifle. Not sure if this was an issue sling, post war, or what. Suggestions welcome.
